Two Hilarious Plays All in One Fun-Filled Performance! |
Richmond Triangle Players is ready to slay (sleigh?) the holidays with a double-bill of two hilarious plays at RTP’s Robert B. Moss Theatre from November 13 – December 22, 2024. In Darrin Hagen’s With Bells On, a mild-mannered accountant with persistent bad luck heads out for his first night of adventure after a nasty divorce. He holds the elevator door for a 7-foot Glamazon who lives down the hall, decked out in Ultimate Christmas Queen Pageant Outfit. They begin what should be an uneventful ride down to the main floor lobby. But then the elevator gets stuck, and the unlikely duo is forced to work together to escape! The stakes are as high as her sparkly headdress! An RTP smash-hit returns with Matthew Lombardo’s wildly funny and heartfelt grown-up comedy Who’s Holiday! An adult Cindy Lou Who recalls that Christmas Eve she first met the Grinch and the twisted turn of events her life has now taken. It’s the story Dr. Seuss didn’t want you to know! The plays will perform together, with Bells as Act One and Who’s as Act Two. RTP’s famous Bar None will be open before the show and during the intermission featuring special Virginia Spirits cocktails. Wette Midler has a long history appearing in RTP holiday productions, both as Irish O’Flanagan in Times Square Angel and most recently as Lottie Obbligato in last season’s Scrooge in Rouge. Wette’s alter-ego Luke Newsome has also appeared in RTP’s Perfect Arrangement, It Shoulda Been You and The View UpStairs. Doug Schneider has graced the stage in RTP holiday productions as well, including It’s a Fabulous Life and We Three Lizas, and winning the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award for his performance as Herr Schultz in Cabaret. He last appeared at RTP this past June in RTP’s musical celebration, The Best of Times. Emily Dandridge is making her onstage debut at RTP in Who’s Holiday!. She choreographed RTP’s productions of The Best of Times and Sondheim on Sondheim, and won the RTCC Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for Swift Creek Mill Theatre’s productionof Murder for Two. She most recently appeared in (and won another RTCC nomination for) Virginia Rep’s On the Radio, produced at Hanover Tavern. A Campy Christmas, featuring With Bells On and Who’s Holiday! opens Friday November 15, 2024, at 8 pm, following low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday, November 13 & 14 at 8 pm. Performances run Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 pm through December 22, with Sunday matinees at 4 pm.
