Auditions: Richmond Fringe – Hayes Plays

Paid role(s). Playwright/director casting a two-night theatrical play at Richmond Fringe in mid-April, plus rehearsal. Richmond residents only.

Seeking: “The Storyteller”: 25+. Role requires the portrayal of 9 different personalities within one character, from a young girl to an old man, acting range needs to be wide and dramatic/comedic/poetic. Movement skills and familiarity with music required (this is not a musical).

Also: jazz drummer to improvise soundtrack throughout the show.

Both roles are demanding and monologue/memory intensive.

The award-winning original work, The Mockingbird News, called “a delightfully ADD tone poem about the power of human language” is a dense challenge, full of rhythmic sentences that echo the beat of the live improvised percussion underscore, portraying multiple aspects of one character’s personality(s).
